To shift the position or re-orientate the chess board, use the special toolbar.

Or use the numeric pad (in setup mode):

 Key        Command

 [8]        shift one line upwards

 [2]        shift one line downwards

 [6]        shift one column to the right

 [4]        shift one column to the left

 [5]        rotate 90°

 [3]        reverse position horizontally

 [9]        reverse position vertically

 [7]        switch colors

For a torique translation (as in a cylinder), hold down the [Ctrl] key while typing the number.
